Marriage and the supremacy of the laws of God

Hello everyone!! I am so sorry!! It has been so long since I last posted and I thought about my last post and realized that it wasn't the best idea in the world, so to, in some ways, bag the last post I wanted to start off a new generation of posts and I wanted to start by making a shout out to all those people out there who have read my blog! Kudos to you for making my blog what it is!!!! And thank you for spending the time and energy, reading a missionary's blog!

So without further delay...my post!

Yeah, so my title is pretty straightforward and it also is pretty self-explanatory, but regardless, both of these topics are very important. First I wish to explain that these two topics are something that mean A LOT to me and they are a very integral part of our existence here on earth. So first I would like to discuss a little about Marriage and the definition that God has set for it and then I want to address the purpose it has within our lives, and how living in accordance with God's set standards can bring us everlasting happiness and joy.

Alright, marriage. So what's the deal with marriage these days? What is so important about it? Why should I even get married if I can sleep with anyone? And why should I marry someone of the opposite sex?
These are all questions that may or may not have crossed your mind and they need to be addressed and they need to be addressed appropriately.

So then, what is the deal with marriage these days? Well to answer this question we need to delve into what God has set as a standard for us. So then what are the standards? Well let's look at a very important document that the First Presidency and Twelve apostles established within our day. The standard that they were asked, by God, to establish is:

"WE, THE FIRST PRESIDENCY and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children." - (The Family, A Proclamation To The World)

This means that God has ordained the marriage between a man and a woman and only between a man and a woman. This means that Homosexual marriages or polygamy, or any other type of marriage that does not follow this same law are not ordained of God and that they are not the way that God planned for marriage. Meaning that the blessings that come through God's true purpose of marriage or traditional marriage only come when you follow God's commandments and are married in the way God intended. If you do not follow those commandments and are not married within God's law and intended way, you will not receive those same blessings..

Now many of you will ask, does that mean that Mormons hate homosexuals? Well, in fact we don't, we love them for who they are and help them find ways to help them through the process of repentance. We as a church will never be accusatory, rude or harsh to those who are gay and Homosexual, and if a someone does, it is because they are not following God's laws. And in doing so, they need to repent of that actions.

Okay, now the next topic is a little sensitive but realize I will do my best and please don't judge, as it is sometimes very hard for me to take about these things. So, next question: Why should I even get married if I can sleep with anyone? Well, let me tell you, in biblical times if some one had an affair with some one else or some one else's spouse, they would have been stoned to death!! Really, look it up, it may seem harsh but that is because an affair is a REALLY BAD thing. There is no one way around it. And unfortunately we as a culture are becoming more and more alright with people sleeping with each other. I tell you now so that you can not tell me otherwise: Having an affair, sex before marriage or even inappropriate actions before marriage, adultery, looking at or viewing Pornography, masturbation or ANY other kind of inappropriate sexual action is BAD. So bad that God says that these are some of the worst and most serious sins and can in some ways be up there with murder.

Now, I know this is a lot of things, but these things are bad, they will bring you temporary or a short amount of happiness and will after doing so, will bring you depression and will bring you lower than you were before. Research and studies have said that in many ways, these sexual sins, specifically, viewing or participating in Pornography, can be just as addictive as meth or heroine.

Friends, I say this because I know that these things are very bad and that you can be very easily addicted if you say, it's only a small thing or it's only one time. But I tell you, don't partake the first time don't even partake! Stay away from it and pray to the Lord for help and resistance from these ever- increasing temptations. He will help you avoid these temptations and will help you find a better way.

God has given us laws that we might avoid these sins, not to keep us from fun and exciting marriages between husband and wife that have been ordained of God. God intends for us to be happy and in following His commandments and laws we can find true and everlasting happiness. God wants us to succeed and in doing our best to follow the laws and boundaries He has set, we can succeed.

I want to end by giving a link to a talk that I love. It is about these same topics and will also help explain more about them. Here it is so you can take a look at what this amazing man has to say about these things:\
A Tragic Evil among Us

I promise that following God's laws and boundaries will  bring happiness and everlasting joy. And will help our families to be more fully united in Christ and in God's laws. There is no other way that we can find happiness if it is not by God's laws and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
